The compensation scheme covers physical and psychological injuries after examination or treatment, as well as physical injury after the use of medicines.
You cannot be awarded compensation for the illness you are being treated for, or because the treatment failed to cure you.
It is a good idea to talk with the medical staff, family doctor or a patient counsellor before you report an injury to the Patient Insurance Association, but it is not a requirement.
